1 avr. 421 av. J.-C. - Erechtheion
Description:
The Erechtheion (421-406 BC) has an irregular grouping of spaces on different levels since it encompases several different sanctuaries and sacred features. It is built on two levels with four varying porticoes and five entrances using the Ionic order. The portico on the south side is supported by six caryatids* which may be a commemoration to the daughters of Kekrops, the first ruler of the city whose grave is housed within the Erectheion. This is the earliest appearance of the Ionic order on the Greek mainland.
