Description:
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Spain. Originally constructed as a small fortress in 889 AD on the remains of Roman fortifications. The ruins were renovated and re-built by the Nasrid emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar in the mid 13th century. It embodies the theme of creating a "paradise on earth". Column arcades, fountains with running water, and reflecting pools were used to add aesthetic and functional complexity.
