1 janv. 1950 - 1950 - The Internal Security Act was passed in response to Joseph McCarthy's incendiary statements that he had a list of state department communists. This act, among other things, allowed immigrants to be investigated without cause for subversive activities. Eventually, parts of the act were found unconstitutional.
