9 févr. 1193 - Chartres Cathedral
Description:
CHARTRES 1194-1230
It is the site of 5 previous cathedrals and is listed as a world heritage site as a 'masterpiece of French gothic art.' It is known for its flying buttresses (allowing for the building's substantial height), two massive spires, and 3 great facades (showcasing hundreds of sculptures depicting theological themes).
Fun fact:
This cathedral used 34 meter high stone vaults - which were higher and wider than any other attempt in French architectural history.
