ABBEY CHURCH ST DENIS 1137-1144Became a place of pilgrimage as it was a burial location for French Kings, Coronation area for French Queens and beautiful. It holds the shrine of Saint Denis, hence its name. It was rebuilt in order to accommodate the mass amount of people that became infatuated with its beauty. The abbot who proposed and took charge of the redesign was infatuated with light as a divine being which is evident in the architecture of the newer structure.
