The battle of marathon was the very first of the Persian wars. The Persians arrive by sea near Athens. Athens goes to meet them then waits for help from Sparta. Athens takes a chance and attacks on heir own, but they were outnumbered. They bait Persia into attacking the center, allowing the edges to surround them.
