8 months is what the provisional government was planned to last. The allies recognized it as a legitimate government. This Provisional government kept Russia in the war. This government had a few competent people. Laws that had seem to promise Russia a new era were passed. Poland was given independence, and all the people had equal rights and were considered equal.
