3 mars 1918 - Russia ends involvement with World War I with Treaty of Brest-Litovsk

Description:

Russia signed a treaty with Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire ending its participation in World War I. It was signed near the Polish Border. Russia had a number of losses against Germany. During World War I poverty-stricken workers and peasants in Russia. In Mid-February they began talking about how the central powers seemed to harsh and that their demands for territory were unacceptable. Fighting resumed. Lenin had realized that Russia in its weakened state would have to give in to the enemy and withdraw from the war. Negotiations resumed later in the month of February and then the final treaty was signed. This made Russia lose some land and some of their resources.
