The Gulags, Stalin’s forced labor camps, were likely part of Hitler’s inspiration for concentration camps. Hitler also mirrored his cult of personality and belief in industrialized war and systematic genocide. Toward the end of the war, Stalin had already begun staking claims for Cold War interests, culminating in the conference at Yalta.
