Description:
Junto, a debate club designed for self-betterment, was opened in Philadelphia, PA by Benjamin Franklin. He and eleven other members engaged in moral, political, and philosophical debate. It eventually became the American Philosophical Society, a much larger organization that even invited some lower-class citizens in their debates.
