5 sept. 1774 - The First Continental Congress
Description:
To combat the coercive acts, the colonies joined together to create the First Continental Congress. On September 5, 1774 a group of representatives from each colony would discuss their response to the new laws all the way to October 26, 1774. The congress included influential men like John Adams, George Washington, and John Jay, the congress decided to issue a Declaration of Rights, stating that British Parliament did not have the right to tax the colonies. The Articles of Association was issued that had colonies stop importing goods from Britain, if the Intolerable Acts were not repealed.
