Description:
The Federal Electoral Institute was created in 1990 by reformers under president Enrique Pena as a way to curb voter fraud. IFE is an independent organization that is in charge of organizing federal elections. In 2014, IFE was dissolved and replaced by the National Electoral Institute (INE).
