15 août 1534 - The Foundation Of The Society Of Jesus
Description:
The Society of Jesus was founded by St. Ignatius Loyola, a Basque nobleman and soldier. While recovering from a military injury, he read spiritual works and accounts from various saints’ lives and decided to focus his life on religion. He and his disciples founded the Society Of Jesus. The Jesuits were extremely well educated and devoted to the Catholic church, allowing them to be extremely effective missionaries, expanding the influence of the Catholic Church to Asia and the Americas. They, arguably, made Christianity into a global religion. (4.1)
