1 janv. 476 - 5th century. Fall of Western Rome - Germanic tribes and Huns set Western Rome on fire after the empire collapsed. This was significant because the inhabitants of the Byzantine empire were close enough that they could see the smoke rising from their neighboring empire and were only protected by the wall surrounding Byzantium.
