Description:

The Safavid dynasty began in 1501 by a 14-year-old who had already assembled his own military and conquering force. The dynasty was known for pressing its religion onto the people, which was known as the Twelver Shi'ism (also known as Shia Islam). Shia Islam is basically the belief that there were 12 more Islam leaders after Muhammad, and that the 12th was still alive but in hiding somewhere. This dynasty was important because of its gunpowder-based military, as well as that it promoted a different, new form of Islam onto the people, which had not been previously done. (4.1, 4.3)
