25 févr. 1520 - Reign of Suleyman the Magnificent (1520 C.E.-1566 C.E.)

Description:

Suleyman the Magnificent was an Ottoman ruler that reigned after Mehmed II, who had taken over the city of Istanbul (formerly named Constantinople). He was a huge conquerer, spreading his realm much more that Mehmed, and did this through a magnificent military. The military was based on gunpowder, which allowed for quick and easy expansion. Suleyman built up a huge naval power, and this was said to be seen as far as the tip of India. He also focused on agricultural production, using the conquered lands to produce even more. This, in turn, created a large supply, which increased trade and in turn the economy (4.2, 4.3)
