1 juill. 1867 - Canada becomes independent British Commonwealth
Description:
On this day the Canadian Confederation was established, which united much of modern Canada under a state which was effectively independent from the UK. It retained some legal connections to the UK, mostly in its foreign affairs, until the late 20th century. Like all British Commonwealths, modern Canada is completely autonomous, remaining in "free association" with the UK through ceremonial deference to the British Monarch. Canada is famously peaceful and friendly (as long as you don't look too hard at their treatment of the First Nations), with close ties to the US.
