World: Found in Africa. the earliest known mathematical instrument. It was a baboon fibula (calf bone) with 29 equidistant markings, used perhaps as a measuring device or to track the lunar cycle.
Equidistant implies that it might be used as a ruler/ number line! Could also distinguish this from a random tally bone.
