Arguably the most important document of U.S. history, the Declaration of Independence declared the Colonies' independence from Great Britain peacefully, stating that trouble was not wanted, but in the case that war were to happen, the United States of America would be prepared. John Adams volunteered Thomas Jefferson to write the first draft, which he did, using a lot of ideas proposed by John Locke, a well-known English philosopher. Later, the draft was revised by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and more.
