Description:
In 532 an uprising threatened to drive Justinian from Constantinople. His wife, Theodora, convinced him to stay and fight which ended in Justinian's death. In 1453 the Ottoman Turks captured Constantinople, bringing an end to the Eastern Empire. Later on, historians called the society that developed in the Eastern Empire the byzantine Empire.
