29 mai 1607 - Jamestown - May 13, 1607

Description:

Three large ships, the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery included 104 English men and boys that set sail in December of 1606. When they arrived in North America, they founded the first permanent settlement there called the city of Jamestown, Virginia naming it after King James I. They chose this area because of its richness in resources. It was surrounded by water and was far inlands so it was easy to defend against Spanish invaders. Edward Maria was the first president of the new Virginia colony.
