Occurring from May 9 to May 12, 1885, The Battle of Batoche was between the Metis' Northwest Resistance, and the North-West Mounted Police. It was described as a "cataclysmic event" where hundreds died, both on the Canadian Government's side and the Metis' side. The battle ended after the NWMP sieged the Metis in an all-out attack. The remaining Metis fought valiantly to hold them off, but succumbed to this onslaught. After this siege, no more fighting occurred at Batoche. The Metis aspect of the 1885 resistance had concluded.
