18 mai 1896 - Plessy v Ferguson

Description:

Homer Plessy was a mixed man who sued the Ferguson train company after they required him to sit in the “colored” section of the train. He maintained that their actions violated the Fourteenth Amendment which granted equal protection under the law for all American citizens, but the Supreme Court ruled against him, establishing a doctrine of “separate but equal” that perpetuated segregation for years after.
