Description:

Christopher Columbus sailed from Spain to the Americas on a voyage ordained by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. His original goal was to discover a fast trade route from Europe to Asia to import spices and other products, find gold, and spread Christianity. Upon reaching what he believed to be India, Columbus enslaved the native inhabitants of the Americas and committed mass slaughters that destroyed cultures for generations to come. He is commemorated in the United States every year on Columbus Day.
