1 janv. 1678 - John Locke published his
"Two Treatises of Government"
Description:
second treatise: took on Hobbes’ ideas about the state of nature - agreed that before and without government there would have been a state of nature
but it would have been broadly peaceful and in agreeing to submit to government people had not surrendered, but maintained, their inalienable rights that no ruler could challenge
people would concede some of their personal freedoms but only in so far as it would protect their rights
if the ruler became a tyrant who imposed on these rights, then there would be no point in joining society and instead the people had the right to overthrow them
