The Nintendo Entertainment System (commonly abbreviated as NES) is an 8-bit home video game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. It is a remodeled export version of the company's Family Computer platform in Japan, also known by the portmanteau nickname Famicom, which launched on July 15, 1983.
