20 nov 1767 - Townshend Acts of 1767

Description:

The Townshend Acts of 1767 were specifically created to battle against the colonists who rebelled against the Stamp Act of 1765. The Townshend Acts, beginning on November 20, 1767, instituted duties on glass, lead (for paint), tea, paper, and a handful of other items. The main purpose of the Townshend duties were for revenue, not regulation. Opposition to the Townshend Acts followed the same pattern as the Stamp Act opposition. There was heavy objection by the Colonists.
