2 sept. 1945 - Beginning of Cold War

Description:

Following the end of World War II on September 2, 1945, America tried to use its power to proclaim a new global order based on democracy and capitalism. However, the Soviet Union rejected the American world order, and instead, favored communism and a world revolution in the name of the worker. This caused the postwar ideological, economic, and military contest between the U.S. and the Soviet Union known as the Cold War, which would last from 1945 until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. The two issues which caused the long-standing distrust between the two nations were atomic power and the spread of communism.
