The fall of the bubonic plague is not attributed to once cause, but likely strict measures of quarantine helped significantly. While there was some increase in medical knowledge, the greater reason was improvements in water supply and sewage. There was also greater availability of food, which decreased malnutrition and the impact disease could have.
