Description:

The Edict of Nantes was revoked by Louis XIV, with his passing of the Edict of Fontainebleau. By doing this, Huguenots were revoked their protection to freely practice their religion without persecution by the state. By allowing this, many Huguenots were forced to flle France. Estimates vary, but at least 200,000 left in search of safety and religious freedom.This was later revoked again by Louis XVI about a century later.
