9 sept. 1829 - 23. Second Great Awakening
Description:
The second Great Awakening was a protestant religious revival that occurred in the early 19th century. After Monroe retired from presidency and Andrew Jackson took over this movement sprung up again. The Missouri Compromise caused the southerners to feel threatened and the second Great Awakening encouraged equality which also angered southerners. This movement led to several reforms as protestants thought they were to shape the nation. It continued Whitfield’s preaching style on focusing on emotion.
