Shays' Rebellion
Description:
Daniel Shays and his rebellion are a very important event in American history because of the impact it had on the government. In 1787, Daniel Shays, a Revolutionary War veteran, led an uprising against the Massachusetts’s government. Shays was unhappy with problems resulting from high taxing so he led a rebellion. His rebellion focused on tax reductions and the creation of paper money. The Massachusetts’s militia shut down his rebellion but following the rebellion, the MA government tried to fix the taxes. The reason the rebellion was important is because it led to the re-assessment of the Confederate System.
