Description:

The Grimké sisters were abolitionists and activists of the women’s suffrage movement. They grew up on a plantation in South Carolina, and when they were old enough, they left their childhood home and shared there experiences growing up with slaves. They wrote about instances of injustice that they saw their parents be a part of, and that is what inspired them to fight for freedom and equality. They were public speakers. Writers, and they started two schools. They are also the only known white Southern Women to be part of the abolitionist movement.
