24 août 1801 - ------------------P4-------------------- The Second Great Awakening

Description:

The Second Great Awakening was the re-birth of the emphasis on piety and emotion in religious worship. Between 1790 and 1860, meetings called revivals were hosted all across the nation and they included people from different backgrounds coming together to worship. In 1801, over 200,000 worshipers gathered in Cane Ridge, Kentucky and attended services for nine days and nights. The Second Great Awakening encouraged African Americans and women and served as part of the beginning of the Women’s suffrage movement and the abolition of slavery.
