28 janv. 1662 - The South Atlantic System

Description:

*While the English and other immigrating nations were colonizing the Northeastern woodlands*, the British also developed a slave trade system across the Atlantic World. This system is called the South Atlantic System, and it took African American slaves through the middle passage into British colonies in the Caribbean to work sugar-cane farms. The British relied on slave labor to grow and pick the cash crops: sugar, indigo, tobacco, and cotton. Their dependence on slave labor started the slavery trend throughout the Americas and eventually leads to the Civil War.
