Puritanism
Description:
Known as Calvinists in Europe and Pilgrims in the Americas, Puritans were are religious group that rejected the ideology of Catholicism in Europe. They traveled to America to spread their faith, create religious civilizations in America, and "cultivate the wilderness". The Puritans believed in the idea of predestination and that is one of the major influential ideas that drove their voyage to the Americas. By coming to America, Puritans believed they were following that command that God sent them to do, and that is: to spread their religion.
