The Tennis Court Oath was an oath taken by members of the Estates General, with many, if not all, of those involved having a deeply rooted sentiment toward a more representative form of government. With swearing to this oath, they swore they would work toward limiting the monarchs governmental controls and implement a functional constitution into the country.
