12 janv. 1859 - Germ Theory

Description:

Louis Pasteur a French Scientist starts to connect the dots. Asks how do animalcules affect people and where do they come from? Created contest to disprove miasma theory. Used chicken broth, one left open and one in close chamber. The open one attracted bacteria. Miasma theorists thought since he covered up the container, there is no vital force for spontaneous generation, so Pasteur creates swan neck flask which traps microorganisms on the lower section of the flask. The broth is in turn fine. Pasteur also owned a winery and noticed wine batch got bad. Used microscope and saw big animalcules (yeast) which is good for wine and saw small animalcules in bad wine. Thought if small animalcules could cause bad wine, and turned out to be right
