Description:
The DNC was held in Chicago and was not met well. At the time, the Democratic party was in charge of the government and protesters were against the handling of the war, and some even turned violent. The actions of both sides ultimately led to the Democratic party loosing support in the presidential campaign and led to the election of Richard Nixon.
