Description:

-After Selma President Johnson went on National Television and promised a strong new law to protect voting rights. Under the Act, Federal Officials could register voters in places where local officials were blocking registration by African Americans. Act eliminated literacy test an other barriers. Act doesn't eliminate the Poll Tax, it gets eliminated by the 24th amendment. In the upcoming year this aloud for 400,000 African Americans to be registered to vote in the deep south.
