Description:
During the epidemic of 1793, 100 people died each day leading to a grand total of 5,000 loses. The mortality rate for all yellow fever infections is 3-7.5%. There is no treatment still to this day. Phase 1 known as the acute phase, begins 3 to 4 days after incubation. The symptoms include fever, headaches, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Phase 2 is called the toxic phase. The symptoms of the toxic phase include fever, bleeding, vomiting, loss of kidney function, abdominal pain, and jaundice.
