Des Groseilliers arrives at Rupert River in Hudson Bay, where his boat the Nonsuch finds refuge to camp at until the weather passes by. The crew built a stockade and then called Charles Fort. While on land waiting for the wather to get better Des Groseilliers traded for furs with nearly 300 aboriginal traders from James Bay.
