Description:

Plessy v Ferguson was a SCOTUS case that dealt with the issue of separate train cars for whites and blacks, and Homer Plessy, who was 7/8ths white wanted to challenge that by sitting in the white car. People got angry and the court ruled that this law was actually unconstitutional under the 13th and 14th amendment. Key people in this case were Homer Plessy and John Ferguson. The case was fought in Washington DC. One major cuase of this was the rejection of the segregation laws and one major effect of this was the beginning of desegregation
