8 août 1788 - King Louis XVI calls the Estates General
Description:
Louis XVI had called an Assembly of Notables to support new tax changes to fix the economic crisis. The notables responded that tax reforms could only be apporved by the Estates General, which had not met since 1614. Louis XVI eventually called the Estates General to meet in the spring of 1789.
