15 oct. 1934 - The Long March
Description:
As conflict increased between the rulingKMT and CCP and turned into a violent war between the armies of the two factions, the CCP decided to undertake a retreat from the pursuing KMT army and move westward, then north to Shanxi. The march lasted about 9000 kilometers and one year. Mao Zedong led the march, and the march represented Mao's ascent to power, although only about 1/10 of the CCP forces that began the march made it to the end.
