16 oct. 1934 - The Long March
Description:
The Long March was the 6,000 mile trek of the Chinese Communists' Red Army from their military base in Jiangxi to Shaanxi after being nearly defeated by Chiang Kai-Shek's forces. The army numbered 86,000 at the start of the trek but suffered many losses, bringing their numbers down to 30,000 by the time they reached the town of Zunyi, sparking the Zunyi Conference. This conference shifted the power from Communist International organization as well as the Soviet Bolsheviks involved to Mao Zedong, making him the undisputed party leader.
