The One Child Policy in China officially lasted until 2016 and restricted families to only having one child. However, many exceptions were made. In 2007, China claimed that only 36% of its citizens were actually limited to one child due to the amount of exceptions made. Both before and after the enforcement of the One Child Policy, families in China have been restricted to just two children.
