20 nov 1304 - Ibn Battuta (1304 C.E. -1369 C.E.)
Description:
Ibn Battuta is the best known Muslim traveler in the history of the faith. He began his journey by becoming the advisor to Delhi, by way of his legal credentials. After seeing the condition of northern India, he made his way to the Maldives, where he immediately took control of the situation that was taking place. He ordered lashings for those who did not attend Friday prayers and tried to bridge the gender gap there. He unsuccessfully attempted to persuade women to follow the strict Muslim dress code and attempted to "fix" the relationship between the sexes. (3.1, 3.3)
