Cholera first began spreading in 1817. It was it's first pandemic and killed over 30,000 in Bangkok alone. The cholera pandemic lasted from 1817-1824 and the total death count is unknown.(from http://www.ph.ucla.edu/epi/snow/pandemic1817-23.html)
