Description:
The scientific name: Escherichia coli
Caused by bacteria named: coliforms
It's found in raw food, in the environment, and it also lives inside your intestines.
Behaviors that could put you at risk are eating raw meat/food
Symptoms: Fever, fatigue, abdominal cramping, gas, loss of appetite, vomiting (uncommon), and sudden watery diarrhea that turns into bloody stools.
Treatment: Resting, fluids to prevent dehydration. A type of infection that can cause hemolytic uremic syndrome will be hospitalized and given supportive care (IV fluids, blood transfusions, and kidney dialysis)
How to prevent it: Wash utensils, keep raw foods separate, Wash your hands
